Check this link to view the draft memorial plaque recognising Manly local hero John “Willy” Williams. An Australian pilot who left for England in 1938 to join the RAF and later transferred to the RAAF, earned a Distinguished Flying Cross, was captured and interred as POW, participated in the Great Escape and was later captured and summarily executed for his part in the escape from Stalag Luff 111.

This will one of many plaques that will be found around the Northern Beaches recognising local heroes commencing in the early part of 2018.
